Coronavirus: Three month extension period to file accounts with Companies House during the coronavirus emergency
Announcements by Companies House on 25th March 2020
From 25th March 2020 businesses can apply for a three-month extension for filing their accounts with Companies House.
Companies House recognises that the COVID-19 emergency may affect the resources available in a company to meet the director’s responsibilities.
If you’re at risk of missing the statutory deadline for filing your annual accounts, please apply online before the deadline date to arrange an extension of up to three months.
Companies House has said an extension will be allowed automatically in such circumstances.
Companies that have already extended their filing deadline, or shortened their accounting reference period, may not be eligible for an extension – so please check with Companies House.
If you don’t apply for an extension and your company misses the filing deadline, late filing penalties will still apply.
